Raloxifene 60 mg Tablets – Product Information
Ralista (Raloxifene 60 mg tablets) is a prescription medication for post menopausal women for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and other problems in women caused by the decreased production of eostrogen by the ovaries. A decline in the estrogen levels in menopausal women results in greater loss of bone density, making the bones brittle thereby increasing the risk of bone fractures.

Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients
Ralista (60 mg) tablets contain Raloxifene Hydrochloride as the active ingredient. It is also used to inhibit the invasive oestrogen-dependent breast cancers in women who have already undergone menopause. Ralista tablets also contain anhydrous lactose, lactose monohydrate, povidone, polysorbate 80, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, Colour Mixture White YS-1-18027-A, carnauba wax, and Edible Blue Ink.
What is Ralista Used For
Ralista is a prescription medication for post menopausal women for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and other problems in women caused by the decreased production of eostrogen by the ovaries. A decline in the estrogen levels in menopausal women results in greater loss of bone density, making the bones brittle thereby increasing the risk of bone fractures. Ralsita reduces the loss of bone tissue by modifying the process of bone formation and its removal in the body. Post menopausal women with an increased risk of osteopororsis or invasive breast cancer are recommended a treatment of Ralista tablets. Oestrogen controls the normal growth and repair functions of the bones. However, during menopuse, the drop in eostrogen levels result in the loss of bone density . Ralista tablets have oestrogen-like properties which act on the bone and maintains bone mass by decreasing the amount of bone resorption (removal of old bone tissue.) It also increases the mineral density of bones by restoring the turnover levels of bones. Ralista tablets also mimic some other beneficial functions of the estrogen hormone in post menopausal women. Most breast cancers are found to be estrogen receptor-positive because they are dependent on estrogen for their growth and developemnt. These tumor cells have been reported to contain estrogen receptors. Ralista tablets have an anti-estrogenic mode of action in breast tissue which allows it to bind to the estrogen receptor on the tumor cells. However, instead of stimulating the growth of the tumor cells, Ralista tablets reduce the risk of breast cancer by suppressing the growth of tumor cells.

How Does Raloxifene Work – Drug Class and Mechanism
Oestrogen is a steroid hormone which is made by the ovary cells. Oestrogen binds to a set of receptors on cells and stimulates them to produce proteins, which are required for the expression of certain secondary sexual characteristics such as breast development and regulation of the menstrual cycle, and various metabolic processes such as maintaining bone mass and lipid (fat) metabolism. Ralista tablets 60mg contain raloxifene as its active ingredient, which acts a selective (o)estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). i.e. it selectively acts on tissues that respond to oestrogen by increasing or decreasing the activity of those tissues. Ralista imitates some of the useful effects of oestrogen in post-menopausal women. Raloxifene in Ralista 60mg tablets behaves like the oestrogen hormone on the bone and maintains the bone mass by decreasing bone resorption and restoring bone turnover to normal levels. This normal bone turnover increases bone mineral density and reduces the risk of fractures. Ralista specifically mimics only the positive effects of the eostrogen hormone on the bones, and avoids the negative effects of eostrogen on the uterine and breast tissues. Raloxifene in Ralista tablets 60mg decreases the risk of endometrial (inner lining of the uterus) cancer through its anti-oestrogenic effects on the endometrium. Raloxifene also reduces the risk of invasive breast cancer through its anti-oestrogenic effects by suppressing cell growth in tumors that have specific receptors for oestrogen and are dependent on oestrogen for its growth.
In case you miss a dose of Ralista 60 mg tabelts during the day, take it as soon as you remember. If the time for the next dose is close, then take the scheduled dose and skip the missed dose. Avoid taking a double dose to compensate for the missed dose.
