Uses of Eumosone cream

Eumosone cream (Clobetasone Butyrate BP 0.05% w/w) is used in the treatment of various inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis (including allergic reactions to irritant substances).

Eumosone Cream - Dosage

You only need to use a small amount of Eumosone ointment. It should be applied thinly and massaged gently into the skin until it disappears.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Clobetasone butyrate is a moderately potent topical corticosteroid. When applied to the skin, clobetasone butyrate reduces swelling, itching and redness by preventing the release of chemicals that cause these symptoms. Clobetasone butyrate is not a cure for your condition, but will help relieve the symptoms.

Warnings and Precautions when using Eumosone cream

Prolonged usage of large amount of Eumosone cream can lead to sufficient systemic levels to produce adrenal suppression, Cushing's syndrome, diabetes and hypertension.
Consult your doctor before using Eumosone cream, if you have a medical history of heart failure, recent myocardial infarction, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, glaucoma, hypothyroidism, hepatic failure, renal impairment, psychoses; children and elderly. Should not enter eyes. If infection exists, treat with specific anti-infectives.

Clobetasone butyrate should not be used on broken or infected skin including cold sores, acne, rosacea, chickenpox, ringworm, thrush or athlete's foot.
Do not allow this preparation to come into contact with mucous membranes (e.g. the mouth, vagina or the inside of the nose).
Do not allow this preparation to come into contact with the face unless directed to do so by your doctor.
Avoid contact with the eyes. If any of this preparation gets into the eyes rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Topical corticosteroids should not be used for long periods of time or on large areas of the body, especially in children.

Side Effects of Eumosone cream

Eumosone cream (Clobetasone Butyrate BP 0.05% w/w) can cause thinning of the skin, particularly on the face and more easily in children, changes in skin colour or an increased growth of hair in the areas where the preparation has been applied.
Burning, itching, stinging sensations may occur.
