Oral (combination therapy with lithium or valproate):
Initial dose: 10 mg orally once a day.
Maintenance dose: 5 to 20 mg orally once a day.
Maximum dose: 20 mg orally once a day.

Initial dose: 5 to 10 mg orally once a day.

Use olanzapine with caution if you have a cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease and/or conditions that would predispose you to hypotension (e.g., dehydration, hypovolemia, concomitant antihypertensive therapy), or if you have a history of seizures or conditions known to lower the seizure threshold (e.g., dementia of the Alzheimer’s type, geriatric patients).
