The medicine Oleanz is used in the treatment of Bipolar I Disorder (manic or mixed episodes), Depression and Schizophrenia. It is available in tablets of 10mg and 20mg. Each tablet of Oleanz contains olanzapine equivalent to 10 mg (32 ìmol), or 20 mg (64 ìmol) respectively.

Oleanz Tablets – Dosage

Usual adult dose for Schizophrenia:
Oral: Initial Dose: 5 to 10 mg once daily;
Dose for Schizophrenia in adolescents:
Oral: Starting Dose: 2.5 to 5 mg once daily
Usual adult dose for Bipolar I Disorder (manic or mixed episodes):

Oral Initial Dose: 5 mg of oral olanzapine and 20 mg of fluoxetine once a day
Usual adult dose for Treatment Resistant Depression in combination with fluoxetine:
Oral Initial Dose: 5 mg of oral Oleanz(Olanzapine) and 20 mg of fluoxetine once daily

Olanzepine is excreted into breast milk.
There may be increased risks of suicidal thinking and behavior in young adults ages 18 to 24 years old during the first one to two months of treatment.
Oleanz (Olanzapine) should not be used for the treatment of dementia-related psychosis.
Use olanzapine with caution if you have a cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease and/or conditions that would predispose you to hypotension (e.g., dehydration, hypovolemia, concomitant antihypertensive therapy), or if you have a history of seizures or conditions known to lower the seizure threshold (e.g., dementia of the Alzheimer’s type, geriatric patients).
