Drug Uses
Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy. Emeset is used for preventing nausea and vomiting due to cancer chemotherapy or surgery. Emeset Tablets are also used for prevention of post operative nausea and/or vomiting in patients where nausea and or vomiting must be avoided postoperatively. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Emeset Tablets – Dosage
Use Emeset as directed by your doctor. For Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV), the recommended adult dosage is two 8-mg Emeset Tablets administered 1 hour before induction of anesthesia.
- Take each dose with a full glass of water.
- Take Emeset with food or an antacid to lessen stomach discomfort.

Drug Class and Mechanism
Emeset is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor blocker. It works by blocking a chemical thought to be a cause of nausea and vomiting in certain situations (e.g., chemotherapy).
Missed Dose

Do not use Emeset if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Emeset Tablets;

Important:
- Emeset may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Emeset with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
- Emeset should be used with extreme caution in children younger than 4 months old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
Emeset During Pregnancy and Breast-feeding
If you become pregnant when using Emeset Tablets, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Emeset while you are pregnant. It is not known if Emeset is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Emeset, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
