Lupimeb tablets contains the active ingredient called Mebendazole which belongs to a group of medicines called ‘anthelmintics’. Mebex (Mebendazole tablets) is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal infestations of Threadworm, Pinworm , Whipworm , Large Roundworm, Hookworm and Tapeworm in adults and children over 2 yrs old. Each tablet of Mebex contains 100 mg Mebendazole.

Lupimeb Tablets (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) – Dosage
The recommended dosage for various infections are given below:
Treatment of Threadworm Infestations:
The recommended dosage of Mebendazole tablets (Mebex) for adults as well as children above 2 years of age is 1 tablet (100 mg) given as a single dose. Since reinfections by Threadworm (Enterobius vermicularis) are known to be very common, it is recommended that the treatment be repeated after 2 and 4 weeks
Treatment of Hookworm, Whipworm and Roundworm Infestations:
The recommended dosage of Mebendazole tablets for adults as well as children above 2 years of age is a single dose of 1 tablet (100 mg) in the morning and evening for three consecutive days.
Missed Dose
Do not take the missed dose of Mebex tablets. Take your next dose at the usual time, and then keep taking your medication as instructed by your doctor.Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Storage Instructions for Mebex Tablets
Mebex tablets should be kept at room temperature, in a cool dry place where the temperature stays below 30°C (86°F) in a light-resistant, tight container. Do not store Mebex or any other medications in a bathroom or near a sink. Keep away from children.
Warnings and Precautions when using Mebex Tablets
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist all the medicines that you you are taking or have recently taken including no prescription medications, dietary supplements,vitamins, over the counter medicines and herbal medications.
In particular tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking Metronidazole for certain infections or Cimetidine for excess stomach acidity. Concomitant use of Mebendazole and Metronidazole should be avoided. Since concomitant treatment with cimetidine may inhibit the metabolism of Mebendazole in the liver, thus resulting in increased plasma concentrations of Mebendazole, dose adjustments may be necessary.
Side Effects of Mebex Tablets
Mebex may cause some undesired side effects in a few patients, even though it is usually well tolerated at the recommended dose. The common side effects include nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, rash, abdominal discomfort and flatulence.
Stop taking Mebex tablets and inform your doctor or health care provider immediately if you notice the following serious side effects: shortness of breath or wheezing, swelling of the face, lips or tongue which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing, sudden or severe blisters, itching, skin rash, hives, flaking or peeling of skin.
Contraindications
Mebex is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Mebendazole or any inactive ingredient of Mebex tablets. It is also contraindicated in pregnant women.
Mebendazole Tablets and Pregnancy
There are possible risks associated with taking Mebendazole tablets during pregnancy, particularly during the first trimester. Hence it is strongly advised not to take Lupimeb tablets (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) if you are pregnant or might become pregnant
Since Mebendazole is only absorbed to a small extent, it is not known whether Mebendazole is excreted in human breast milk. Therefore, caution should be exercised when Lupimeb is administered to nursing women.
Lupimeb Tablets – Overdose
In the cases of patients undergoing therapy with Lupimeb tablets at dosages substantially higher than recommended or for long periods of time, the following side effects have been reported rarely: reversible liver function disturbances, hepatitis, neutropoenia, and glomerulonephritis. In cases of accidental overdose, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur.
There is no specific antidote in case of Mebendazole (Lupimeb tablets) overdose. However gastric lavage may be performed if required within the first hour after ingestion.
