Drug Class and Mechanism

The physiological mechanism of erection of the penis involves release of nitric oxide (NO) in the corpora cavernosa (2 sponge-like sections of tissue in the penis) during sexual stimulation. Nitric oxide then activates the enzyme, guanylate cyclase, which causes the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) producing smooth muscle relaxation in the corpora cavernosa and allowing inflow of blood. Kamagra Oral Jelly inhibits an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) which is responsible for degradation of cGMP in the sponge-like sections of tissue in the penis.
