Fluticasone is a synthetic steroid of the glucocorticoid family of drugs that is used for treating allergic conditions involving the nose. Fluticasone mimics the naturally-occurring hormone produced by the adrenal glands, cortisol or hydrocortisone. The exact mechanism of action of fluticasone is unknown.Azelastine Hydrochloride is an antihistamine.

Do not use Duonase Nasal Spray with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants or other antihistamines. Azelastine may reduce alertness, and impair the functioning of the central nervous system.Special care is needed in patients with lung tuberculosis, and fungal and viral infections. Children who are on immuno-suppressant drugs are more susceptible to infections than healthy children. Chicken pox and measles, for example, can take a more serious or even a fatal course in children on immuno-suppressant corticosteroids.
During long-term therapy, monitoring of haematological and adrenal functions is advisable.
In clinical studies with intranasal fluticasone propionate, the development of localized infections of the nose and the pharynx, caused by Candida albicans, has been seen rarely. When such an infection develops, it may require treatment with appropriate local therapy and discontinuation of treatment with DUONASE Nasal Spray is advised

The Possible side effects of Duonase Nasal Spray are listed below:Headache, somnolence, pharyngitis, epistaxis, nasal burning/irritation, nausea, vomiting, cough, and taste disturbances. The combination may produce a bitter taste, which may lead to occasional nausea. This bitter taste usually disappears after sometime.
